Since October 2000, a group of interested citizens have been discussing various proposals to provide programming to youth and families on the south side of Lansing, Michigan. The group is now a formalized structure and has opened the South Side Community Coalition through a collaborative effort with the Ingham County Health Department and the City of Lansing. |

Central Michigan 2-1-1 is a free phone service that provides callers with information about and referrals to human services for every day needs and in times of crisis. 2-1-1 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The service is available to residents of Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties.
By dialing 2-1-1, callers are connected with a trained information referral specialist who can discuss the caller’s needs and give them the information and/or agencies they can contact for assistance. Callers can receive referrals to receive help with:

Ø Food, shelter, and clothing, |

Ø Substance abuse services, |
|
|
Ø Rent and utility assistance, |
|
|
Ø Child abuse and neglect |
|
|
Ø Tax assistance, |
|
|
Ø Personal and household needs, |

Ø Counseling, |

Ø Volunteer opportunities and much more. |
